Level Up Your Photography Business with Branding Photos!

To find your ideal client, they need to get to know you! Having photos of yourself that reflect you and who you are is such an important part of booking your ideal photography client. Branding photos are so much more than a photo of you smiling with a camera. This is a chance for you to show off your personality, locations you love shooting in, and what you like to do for fun! This is how to get started with your own branding photos!

Book A Photographer

Find a photographer that you admire or want to work with! You can swap photos with a friend, or pay someone to invest in these pictures. Make sure ahead of time they’re up to giving you RAW photos so you can edit them to your style. Since you’ll be using branding photos on your website and social media, it’s important for them to be cohesive with your usual style! Bring your own cards to your shoot so it’s easy to get the RAW photos!

Preparing for your branding photos

Once your photographer is in place, choose a location that fits your brand! If you love shooting on the coast, choose your favorite beach spot! Browse through and save other photographer’s branding photos for inspo, and think ahead of what you need on your website or guides to make sure you get all the shots you need. If you want action shots of you working with a client, reach out to someone to model for you!

Here’s a list of things you can bring:

  • Your cameras
  • Your laptop
  • Your favorite drink
  • Your favorite food
  • Your favorite activity
  • Vintage cameras
  • Your brand merch
  • Guides you’ve made
  • Anything that makes your brand different!

What to do with your branding photos

Think ahead to what you need these photos for! I love using branding photos for my instagram, reel covers, website “about me”, guides you give your clients, the education part of your business, and more!

A typical shot list could include:

  • smiling at the camera so clients can see what you look like
  • Far away shots for broll or collages
  • You working on your laptop
  • Holding your camera
  • A gif of you taking photos of clients
  • Photo of your hands and the camera
  • You doing your favorite activity
  • Candid working moments
  • Silly, laughing photos!

Really think of your brand, who your ideal client is, and how you can use these photos to draw them to you!
